Wales golf coast

Wales is a perfectly designed country for golf game. It’s as if the forces of nature conspired to make it this way. There are some 200 courses set amidst the most spectacular scenery. With inspirational links, parkland courses in mountain settings, championship courses in the shadow of mighty medieval castles and luxuriously modern golfing resorts, Wales is a voyage of discovery for true golfers.

189 is a lot of golf courses in anyone's guidebook. But, in Wales, with just 3 million people, we've plenty of room for visitors and plenty of access to tee times. 'Play through' isn't something you hear very often. You can go at your own pace - even if you are stopped by a bunker (or one of 641 castles). You'll find welcoming clubhouses, unpretentious pro shops and an honest, unstuffy atmosphere. Isn't that how golf should be?

Wales has some of the world's top links course. They don't come much higher than Pennard, the 'links in the sky' on a cliff-top west of Swansea. Closer to sea level, there's Royal St David's (1,000 years ago it was under water). This links course is hailed by many professionals as the world's toughest par 69. Or by many amateurs as the world's toughest par 96. And if you like a sea view, stroll along the National Trust cliffs at Nefyn. Actually, it's difficult not to - the fairways stretch for almost a mile into Caernarfon Bay.
